Africa International Horror Film Festival, the first horror film festival in West Africa founded by film producer, Ann Sarafina Nneoha, is aimed at “Reviving the African Horror Cinema“. The festival is committed to giving independent horror filmmakers in Africa and beyond a platform to showcase and promote their works.
Every year we premier and showcase works from African and international independent horror filmmakers. It is always an opportunity for filmmakers to network with industry professionals exchange ideas about the art and business of filmmaking.
Awards given are in the following categories – Best Feature, Directing, Cinematography, Editing, Special Effects, and Musical Score, etc. In addition, there are special categories for Best Animation, Best Short, Audience choice award, Best Experimental Film, and Best Student Film.
The 2021 Africa International Horror Film Festival:
- Received approximately 4,000 African and international submissions;
- Had over 1,000 attendees including filmmakers and film enthusiasts
- Screened 92 films from 30 countries
- Had over 10,000 engagement on social media
Submission for the 2022 edition commences on the 5th of February 2022.
